My Most Impactful Success Hack (Seeking Discomfort)

Are you ready to take the next step toward achieving everything you once thought was impossible? I’m so excited to share my most impactful success hack that will help you clear your limiting beliefs and fears around whatever might be holding you back from the life you deserve.

Of course, when I talk about “success” here, I’m talking about you achieving YOUR dream life. When I use examples from my own life about growing my multimillion dollar business, traveling around the world, having a baby, or establishing generational wealth and a legacy, I’m talking about MY dream life, and I know your dream life might look very different. But the principles work for everyone.

First, I’ll talk a little about how this success hack changed my life in college, then I’ll go into why it works, and then I want to give you the tools to make this an actionable strategy or principle for your life every day.

I’m so excited to share my most impactful success hack that will help you clear your limiting beliefs and fears around whatever might be holding you back from the life you deserve.

Getting Comfortable With Discomfort

When I was pre-med in college, I had a three-hour commute to and from school. On top of that, I worked several hours a week at a movie theater and had also started a fitness business. AND getting in shape was important to me. So I had these non-negotiable things in my life – I had to go to school or I wouldn’t graduate; I had to work at the movie theater for money to pay my bills; I had to grow my business so that I could eventually support myself without the theater job. Going to the gym to get in shape was optional.

I realized that I needed to make going to the gym a non-negotiable too. The problem was, the only free time I had was between the hours of 11 pm and 1 am. So I made an unconscious agreement with myself: no matter how busy I was, or how I felt, or even if I was falling asleep, I was going to go to the gym. I did not give myself the option to stay home. I committed myself to any type of workout, even if it was just five minutes on the treadmill.

This commitment to training in any type of condition, no matter how UNCOMFORTABLE, was also training myself for life. The difference between successful and unsuccessful people is that successful people are comfortable being uncomfortable. You can train yourself to purposefully seek discomfort, get to know it, and create a relationship with it instead of avoiding it.

Training Your Subconscious

So WHY does embracing discomfort work? It has to do with the power of your subconscious. The prime directive of your subconscious is survival. Once your subconscious is sure of survival, it can switch to pursuing pleasure and thriving. When you avoid something, your subconscious equates that thing with danger or a threat to your survival. Even if it’s something that’s actually good for you. So if you’re having a disconnect between what you want and what you’re actually getting in life, your subconscious is probably perceiving your desires as a threat on some level.

For example, if you are avoiding taking action that you KNOW is going to get you to the next level, like going to the gym to get healthier, you’re training your subconscious to see your next level as a threat. Your subconscious is the part that controls 95 percent of your reality, so you cannot move toward your goals if your subconscious views those goals as a threat.

The same is true on the other side. When we spend time actively pursuing something, our subconscious will perceive it as safe and good. Every time you say yes to an opportunity that scares you, or face your fears of failure or rejection, or stretch outside your comfort zone, you are also training your subconscious that this discomfort is a positive thing. Feel the fear and DO IT ANYWAY. Eventually, you will get clear of those fears.

Actively Seeking Discomfort

So how can you go about actively seeking the kind of discomfort that will help you grow and transform your life? Start by asking yourself important questions. Why am I doing this? Am I avoiding discomfort? How did I actively challenge myself to grow today? A lot of people don’t take the time to ask themselves questions about their intentions or who they want to become or what they REALLY want in life. But when you start doing that, you WILL grow!

Recognize Your Fears

So many people spend so much energy avoiding things. For the most part, it’s much easier and feels better to avoid something rather than actively pursue it. What we don’t realize is that all we’re really doing is avoiding a feeling. Isn’t that crazy? For instance, if you’re thinking about launching a business, but you’re afraid the business will fail, what are you really afraid of? It probably has very little to do with the business actually failing but more about the FEELING of failure. We don’t want to feel rejected or stupid or incapable.

If you realize the worst that’s going to happen in your life is that you’re going to FEEL a FEELING, it will change everything! Train yourself to feel uncomfortable feelings, and you will become UNSTOPPABLE!

Even today, I measure a successful day, not by how many successes I may have had that day, but by how many times I faced discomfort for the sake of my growth. Sara Blakely, the founder of Spanx, talks about dinner time conversations with her dad. He wouldn’t ask them what they did well that day. He would ask them what they failed at. Because if you’re failing at something, it means you’re putting yourself out there. You’re trying. You’re growing. You’re doing. You’re living.

Feeling Good Now vs Feeling Good in the Future

There are certain things that feel good to do RIGHT NOW like watching your favorite show on Netflix. Then there are things that feel good to have done like writing that book that’s been trying to get out of you for years. Writing your book might not feel good in the moment – it might be tedious; you have to discipline yourself; you might be tired; you have to face fears of failure or criticism or not being able to do it. BUT imagine yourself on the other side of it. Will you ever regret having written it once it’s done? No! If you put it off and binge Netflix, it might feel good while you’re doing it, but will it feel good to have done that after a month? No! What growth came out of that? Probably not much.

Most people never ask themselves the difference between does this feel good to do, or does this feel good to have done, or is this both? Sometimes, you CAN have both. Like, maybe you can bring fun and pleasure to the writing process. But sometimes you have to leave your comfort zone of what feels good now and actively pursue what you know will feel good in the future. You’re making decisions that will lead you to your dream life.

Future Ready for More Hacks and Secrets?

What if I told you that you were just seven short days away from effortlessly releasing seven of your most limiting financial beliefs? Sound too good to be true? I can tell you from personal experience that it’s not.

My seven-day program, Tapping into Massive Wealth, gives you the tools you need to use the Emotional Freedom Technique (or EFT for short) to re-balance your emotions and energy around money. Similar to acupuncture, EFT applies pressure to points located in the body’s natural energy meridian by literally tapping on them. Any energy blockages surrounding an issue lighten and lift off you within 10-15 minutes.

EFT is a great way to promote the natural flow of the body’s energy through the meridian and bring everything back into balance on a daily basis. No practitioners or special needles are needed, so you can practice EFT anywhere, anytime. Sounds easy, right? Let me tell you, the freedom EFT has brought into my life is honestly priceless. And I want that freedom for you too.

What’s even better? Once you master these seven money limiting beliefs, you can use the exact same tapping process to tap on any other limiting beliefs or anything else that you are having an adverse emotional reaction to! Are you ready to taste true emotional and mental freedom? The life you were always meant to live is out there waiting for you. Go out there, and manifest some magic!
